π New Mini Documentary: under consideration
β° Time it took to write: 9 hours 7 minutes
40 Instagram posts a day has certainly highlighted one thing. π§
For the majority of young people, life is a complete mess.
They just go with the flow.
They keep asking me how I manage my time, what tips I can give, where to start...β
I thought it was time to make that decision and end the guesswork...
In this article I'll show you specifically:
How is my week structured (you can see all my programs) ποΈ
And how can you create an orderly life, you too? π οΈ
But before we dive in, let's see...
π How's the challenge going?
βπΌ Soon you'll have a bigger say in the development
We've put together a questionnaire that will be sent to those who have been using the App for at least 2 weeks. π
Since their experience is still "fresh", they will have much better ideas about the development.
We ask them what they liked, what they would definitely fix, etc. π
We then aggregate these responses at the end of each month and build our next monthly improvement plan from there.
This way, we're 100% sure that we're only improving things that the community needs! β
π‘ Side note: It sounds so simple to put like this, but it was preceded by a loose 27 hours of research. It took us 27 hours to put together the questionnaire and the system itself, which automatically collects and organizes the responses for us.
π€ New positions open at OM
Thanks to our progress, 3 new positions will open in the near future.
I deliberately don't want to take up time and space. β
So, if you're interested, you'll find the exact job titles towards the end of this letter after the "What exactly do you do?" section. β¬οΈ
Here we go...
π Why am I writing this - again -?
There is a huge misconception in the Hungarian market about what an entrepreneur does. π
It is true that every business is different...
I cannot describe every profession.
But I think it's enough to pull back the curtains and you can see what I do, on a typical week. ποΈ
That way you'll have a general idea of what an entrepreneur does...
It's important to note that we are NOT at the point where we have a separate employee for each task. β
So, I have more responsibilities:
π₯ Content producer
π Marketing Manager
π οΈ Product Manager
βοΈ Company Manager
To make it easy for you to understand my weekly schedule and why it's structured the way it is, I'll first explain what my responsibilities are.
1. Content producer π₯
π€ What is it exactly?
It's in the name, I produce content for OM accounts.
To get to a lot of people organically and thus get a few people interested in BookBase. Ergo it works like a marketing channel! π
It is important to point out that I could not do this alone! I have huge help from Geri and Batu who help me with video editing, YouTube and Instagram management. ππ»
So, the tasks that are left to me:
Coming up with a TikTok video idea
TikTok video script writing - this means putting together my ideas of what I'm going to talk about in the TikTok video
TikTok video recording
TikTok video editing
YouTube video recording - this is only 1-2 hours per month
Blog writing
Insta stories
Call with Geri to talk through the week's to-do list
β° How long will it take?
4-6 hours a week + blog writing, which varies quite a bit
This is where I could use some help:
Right now, I would especially welcome an experienced copywriter to add to the team.
Someone who can help with Script writing, Blog writing and Ad copywriting!
So, if you're like that, drop me a message on my private Instagram @gringobeast to see if we can work together!
By the way, I've shot it down, this is position 1 and the rest will be at the end!
2. Marketing Managerπ
π€ What is it exactly?
I create and optimize the ads for the KΓΆnyvKlub. Alongside that, I'm always looking for new platforms to advertise on. π
I love this job because it's creative and probably the most important job in the company, as it generates cash flow. But there is 1 job I like even more than that.
Cashflow means: the amount of money that flows into the company in a given month that can be spent.
We'll talk about that later...
Here I do these tasks:
Advertising Script Writing - what I say in TikTok video
Recording an ad
Cutting an ad
Advertise the finished video
Optimize existing campaigns
Run A/B tests
Record the results
Experiment with new platforms
Write text in the application
Put together marketing funnels
I know half of this was Chinese to you, but the point is...
I'm all about getting more subscribers to BookBase. π
β° How long will it take?
6 hours a week
π‘ Side note: A copywriter could also help with ad scripts here. I see he could be the biggest plus to the company right now.
3. Product Manager π οΈ
π€ What is it exactly?
In short, he or she is responsible for making sure that the product - in this case the BookBase App - is well developed. π
What features will be included? In what order will they be completed? What are the bugs? etc.
He connects the marketer and the developers. For me, it's simple because I'm the Marketer. π€
I enjoy this the most because you can see the change in the App with your eyes. I feel like we are building a big Lego castle and it's getting bigger and nicer frame by frame.
Not to mention, Edu and Kokesz are brutally easy to work with because we're already meshing, we know each other's thoughts approximately. So, it's easy for me. π
I do these tasks here:
2 calls a week with Edu and Kokesz - where we talk through the current progress
Talk to users and gather information
Communicate with customers, talk to them and discuss with them
Help Edu and Kokesz with their work where I can
β° How much time will it take?
8-10 hours a week, but it flies by the fastest because I love doing it.
4. Company director βοΈ
π€ What is it exactly?
In a small business, the company manager is about everything. For the time being, this is more of an administrative and social role. ποΈ
Here are the things that fall under this heading:
Sorting the accounts and sending them to the accountant
Paying taxes and fees
Paying out salaries
Responding to enquiries
Building strategic relationships
Giving presentations
Develop myself so that the company can develop
Produce monthly evaluations
β° How long will it take?
4-5 hours per week
π Book recommendation: 'The Effective Executive' by Peter Drucker has helped me a lot to see my tasks better and not to bother with them so much. If you are in this position, I can definitely recommend it to you. You can find a summary of it in BookBase.
I know, it seems like a lot of work to do in one sitting and honestly it is, BUT...
You have to go through this phase too. πͺπΌ
As you get more and more cash flow in the company, you can outsource more and more tasks to new employees. However, this does not mean that I have so many less tasks.
It is simply that I can use the time freed up to do other, more important tasks. β»οΈ
Where 1 leaf, usually 1 new one comes in.
I could split my tasks into 2 parts:
π οΈ Work in a business- Tasks that are necessary to keep the company running.
π Work on a business - Tasks that are necessary for the development of the company.
As cash flow grows and we have more and more employees, my job is to increase the time I spend working ON BUSINESS. β¬οΈ
Because this is how I can contribute the most to the long-term development of the company!
Before I show you specifically how my week is structured and how you can be organized. π
Let me give you an insight...
This newsletter only grows organically, which means that the only way to get more people to read my writing is if you find it valuable and send it to 1-2 people you know.
I'm doing it all so that I can help as many young people as possible by sharing my experiences and thereby create a better world for ourselves.
Thank you if you help me with a forward! π§‘
π§ How can you do so much?
- The question arises -
It's true that I have a lot of tasks, but I especially like the variety of them, so it's hard for me to get bored. π
However, to make it sustainable, you need a system in your life.
π‘ Side note: I used to think that having a full calendar was like being in a cage and therefore protested it hand and foot. Then after 3 years I realized that this feeling, just like that, liberates me because I don't have to think about anything. And you can move any program anyway.
The beginning of my last year was a bit of a bitter mess. π€―
So, I sat down with a pen and paper to organize my thoughts.
I'm going to guide you through this process now:
1. I need a calendar ποΈ
I personally use Google Calendar because you can connect everything and it has a cool App.
But I have, right now, 1 new Calendar that I keep a half-eye on because it looks pretty good.
It's called Amie.so
I think it's worth a try! β
2. What is the most important thing you need to do? π€
I asked myself the question, if I had to leave for 1 month without a word and couldn't work at the company, what would be the 1 task I should definitely do beforehand?
It was Marketing, as it is one of the lifeblood of the whole machine. π₯
Then I asked the question again, what would be the 2nd most important thing, then the 3rd and so on.
I ended up with a list:
Marketing
Content production
Product Management
Company Management
π Book recommendations: Greg McKeown's book "How to Be a Materialist" helped me with this. It specifically walks you through the process, at the end of which you'll have a list like this. You can listen to it on BookBase in 14 minutes. π§
3. How much time do you spend on them? β°
Then I started assigning time durations to them, the more important something is, the more time you need to spend on it.
This worked more or less, but there are some things that are difficult to do. For example, I can shoot 30 ad videos a week, but I don't have the money to test them all.
So, it would be pointless to spend that much time. β
π Book recommendations: I know I'm a bit biased, but Greg McKeown's books are really brilliant. In this section his book "Effortless" can help you the most, don't be fooled, it's in English up on the App and only 21 minutes.
4. Fill up your calendar ποΈ
Then, when I had the timeframes, I took a nice blank calendar and started uploading it.
This already gave me a framework for my week, as I had all the tasks, I needed to do to make the company thrive. πΌοΈ
π‘ Side note: Use "Recurring" events and you only need to do 1 week and all the others will be like that. I wish someone had told me this and then I wouldn't have had to upload 3 months in advance manually...
It helps a lot if you also color in the events, because it's easier to tell what you're doing by looking at it. π¨
This is what my calendar looks like if you only see the colors:
I wonder if you can guess which color represents which task?
π Book recommendations: "Kiss the Frog" by Brian Tracy, can help you a lot with which tasks to put first. I used it to organize my days back in the day. Don't worry, it's also up in BookBase! π§
5. Now comes the personal life ππ»
Because this should be in your calendar too. Because you have time for what you want to do, and the best way to do that is to schedule it in advance.
I'll show you how I did it...
I saw where there were holes in my calendar and started filling them with my private events:
Workout
Lunch
Visiting my Mum
Going on a date with Kinga
π‘ Side note: Make time for all 3 pillars: health, relationships, wealth. All my health and relationships, relationships, relationships. For me, it's a date with Kinga, meeting my Mum or even exercising.
And finally, if you've got that up your sleeve, you get a week like this for yourself:
This is my real calendar! π₯
Again, this doesn't mean that my week always looks like this and I never do anything differently.
It just gives me a framework and helps me to really focus on what's important. ποΈ
I didn't put the weekend in on purpose because it's malleable, sometimes I'm still working. But there are also times when I'm just with Kinga. β€οΈ
There are plenty of times that Substack Post writing slips into the night too, but it's unnecessary to include that because it's always different. π
That in itself gives my week a perfect framework within which my mind is free to soar.
And finally...
β
What exactly do you do?
[ ] First, recognize that the calendar can really help you, as it gives you a framework for your week. π€
[ ] Step two, choose a calendar for yourself Google or Amie. ποΈ
[ ] Step three, decide what your most important tasks are and write a list of them. π
[ ] Step four, put them on your calendar, color-coded, as recurring events. ποΈ
[ ] Step five, fill in the blanks with your private life events. β€οΈ
[ ] Step six, set up notifications so you always know what's coming. π¨
π‘ Side note: You can turn these off later, but initially it helps to get your daily routine established.
If you follow these steps through, you can easily give your whole week a framework, which will help you move towards your goals much faster!
Trust me, organization is a huge virtue in today's world. π
π€ What can you help me with?
New positions will open soon at OM.
So, if you've been waiting for the right moment to work with us, this is it! π₯
We are thinking about 3 positions as we grow:
1. Copywriter βπΌ
We are looking for a team member who can help us write TikTok video scripts, understands direct response marketing and can help us write the blog by expressing my thoughts.
I can promise you one thing, you won't get hands-on experience anywhere else as fast as you will with us! πͺπΌ
These would be your tasks:
Write the text for 6 weekly TikTok videos
Write 1 blog article per week
Write 5 ad copy articles per week
π Book Recommendation: 'Copywriting Secrets' by Jim Edwards is a must-read on this topic, it tells the whole story of copywriting. It's like a crash course! You can also find a summary of it in BookBase. π§
2. Programmer π¨π½βπ»
It's time to make Edu + Coke's job a little easier. So, we need someone who can do web stuff, mainly front-end, but also backend hookups. π¦Ύ
That would be his job:
Develop the web application
Developing the application, develop the application, code the landing page
Other small tasks he can help with
These programming languages are essential:
HTML
JS
CSS
React
Plus points if you can improve on these too:
Flutter
Sass
Git management
You'll be in good hands for sure, as these guys have an incredible amount of hands-on experience and are brutally easy to work with. β
3. Video cutter ποΈ
It would be a bonus if we could find a good video editor who could help us edit vertical (shorts) videos, so we can get up to speed there.
Editing 6 TikTok videos a week
The Best Ads Boost
It would be great if you also understood Motion Graphics. ππ»
Age has never mattered in the OM team, only knowledge, so you can be 15 or 99, if you're the best in your field, we'll work with you. π€
If you're interested in applying for any of these positions, drop me a message on my Instagram profile @gringobeast, describe why you'd be the best fit for the position and attach a few portfolios of your work for me to look at.
π What have I read now?
I finished "Reality Transurfing", I can't tell you how good it felt to "finish" a 750-page book. Especially since I've been putting it off for 3 years. β
I learned a lot from it and can only recommend it to you! I see the world in a completely different way, it's a bit like when you're driving in the rain and you wipe the windscreen on your car and you can see much clearer.
π§ What have I just listened to?
Over the weekend I went to a Philosophy "camp", which was also an awesome community. I spent 2 days with about 10 27-year-olds like me. The main theme was "Heroes", what makes someone a hero? How do you become a hero? What are their virtues? π€
This was presented through the myth of Theseus; you know the Minotaur legend.
It involves Theseus going into the labyrinth and defeating the Minotaur. βοΈ
Many people confuse the labyrinth and the maze. The maze has only 1 path with many twists and turns, but you can't get lost in it. Whereas the maze, which has lots of forks and dead ends.
Here came an interesting suggestion that the Labyrinth, challenging because you don't know where it ends, is a bit like life. π§
However, the Labyrinth can also be transformed into a Maze, by stopping in between or turning back. Then you don't know exactly what the best action is and you get confused. So, the only way to solve the Labyrinth is to persevere and march forward, no matter how much the voices in your head try to convince you that it's impossible. π€―
Also, Luke Belmar had a good podcast that came out recently that I started listening to. He talked a lot about false beliefs and how it affects our worldview.
βπΌ Top quote

π§ͺ Question of the week
I'm thinking about a new kind of Blog style. Where I would bring 1-1 obstacle, I faced that week and walk you through how I solved it. πͺπΌ
That way you would concretely understand my thought process and see if you could apply it to your life. π
By the way, you'd get a better insight into the development of the BookBase!
