🎞 New Mini Documentary: The hidden truth about MONEY
⏰ Time to write: 7 hours 43 minutes
I'm sure you've been on the edge of the precipice...
But you didn't dare jump off. 🗻
Something was missing...
That last little push! 💨
Well in this post I'll show you what was the thing that gave me that push...
And helped me to create OM and BookBase. 🚀
But before we dive in.
Let's see... 👀
🚀 How's the challenge going?
🤯 I can't believe it - Tomorrow Mindset Meetup
The time has flown by...
One thing is for sure, those who missed it will regret it! 😫
Since some people can't make it due to language exams and the like, we're reselling their tickets.
🎟️ There are still 4 lefts to grab - https://onlinemarketinges.com/mindset-meetup
🚌 This is how you can get to CEU. (It's near the Basilica)
I took a picture of it because there are more buildings and don't go somewhere completely different!
👕 Dress code: smart casual (no sweatshirt) the only exception is OM Merch, because it's super cool
⏰ Arrival: until 12:45 (13:00 is the start time)
🖥️ Preparing the Webapp - small leak
Szabi pulled the last month and with Edu's help they started to get the Webapp hooked up and working. ⚙️
I'll show you some leaks...
💡 Side note: It will be the same as the Application. So, no one will get lost in it!
🤫 Something else is going on in the background
There's a saying that a picture is worth 1,000 words.
I think this one will be especially true...
🪓 Let's get started...
💭 What do you need for the last stroke?
Thinking back now to me 5 years ago, I dare say it was the biggest influence on my career.
Because at 22 years old, Kristóf had everything planned, calculated, prepared... 🧐
He just couldn't get going.
I fell into a typical paralysis of analysis. 🤯
Meaning: a state of overanalyzing a situation. While the decision maker thinks so much that he becomes indecisive.
And until then, I didn't even take the first step until someone "forced" me to.
Now you can think:
"Who is the idiot who is happy to be forced into something?"
But rest assured, I don't have a gun to my head. 🔫
💡 Side note: Although it probably would have been much more effective.
It's just that they created an environment for me where I had to act.
I was in a simple mentoring program where I was drawn to 2 guys of a similar age. 🙋♂️
All we had to do was tell each other what we wanted to achieve by the beginning of next week and put a "prize" on it.
But it won't be a "prize" that you can win...
It's something you won't lose. 🤯
Because people are more motivated not to lose something than to gain something of equal value.
Because you have an existing 'possession' to keep, you know how hard you had to fight for it. 💪🏼
And let's face it, it's not easy to give up such things.
💡 Side note: Just try betting with your buddy that if you lose you lose a grand, if you win nothing happens. Then flip it the next game, if you're right you get a grand from him, if you're wrong nothing happens. I guarantee you that the first game will motivate you much more. Because you don't want to lose money. The stakes are 1,000 forints each.
But back to the story...
We've picked 3 goals for the week and a sum for each of them. The average was 20.000 forints per task. So, a total of 60.000. 💰
These tasks were easily measurable and you couldn't cheat, as the others could see that you either did it or you didn't.
Side note: For example, I'm posting 3 TikTok videos this week.
Then the following Monday we got together and went through everyone's assignments.
There was 1 person who couldn't complete one of his assignments. ❌
So, he paid us 20.000 HUF, which we divided among us and we got 10-10.000 HUF.
Which we could spend on whatever we wanted. And right in front of the guy! 🫠
You can think to yourself...
"Poor man, he flunked a 20."
But that's not true!
He bought himself a lesson for 20,000 forints. 💵
The lesson that if you promise something, you have to keep it.
In short, it's called accountability.
So, this was the method that pushed me over the edge and to which I owe the whole OM. 🙏🏻
Because I didn't want to fail, especially not in front of others.
And certainly not by paying them... ❌
But before we look at how you could apply it, let me give you a quick insight...
This newsletter only grows organically, which means that the only way to get more people to read my writing is if you find it valuable and send it to 1-2 people you know.
I'm doing it all so that I can help as many young people as possible by sharing my experiences and thereby create a better world for ourselves.
Thank you if you help me with a forward! 🧡
🧐 How do you use accountability?
It's a powerful way to really keep your promises to yourself.
Let's be honest, it's one thing to promise yourself that you'll have a business like this, a holiday like that, etc. 💦
The question is, do you really mean it?
And if the answer is yes, then it's time to commit to it! 🤝
Here's how:
1. First, choose 1 (or more) partners 🫂
It's best to find someone you already know well BUT who is not your boyfriend.
In today's world, it's probably easiest to know someone online, but you don't hang out with them day to day. 👥
When you involve your close friends, emotions come into play. Which is a problem because, then, you won't make logical decisions.
Look for someone you know well enough to know that they'll keep their promise and push you along the way. 🔥
But, if you don't have someone like that around you, you can look for someone you don't know at all.
Go to the Discord server, post a message in the chat box and see how many people respond. 💭
📕 Book recommendations: "How to Make Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie can help a lot here. One of my favorite books! You can find it summarized in BookBase! 🎧
2. Make an introductory call 👨🏫
The aim here is to get to know each other better.
What are each other's goals? 🤔
Who's real why? ❓
Why do you need Accountability?
How can you best help each other? 🫴
After this...
Lay down the rules.
Agree to be mutually tough on each other. 🪨
Discuss force majeure situations and what needs to be done.
Vis Mayor means: force majeure, also sometimes called forced circumstances, is a contractual clause that comes into play in certain emergency situations when one party cannot fulfil its contractual obligations due to events that occur for reasons beyond its control.
I will give an example of this later!
💡 Side note: This will help avoid disputes later.
Overall, you are framing the purpose of your cooperation! 📈
3. Discuss a timetable 📊
For example, every week Tuesday at 19:00 you will talk on Discord. 🗣️
This will be the call when you set your weekly tasks.
I'll fill you in later on how many tasks I suggest and how. 📝
4. Every call needs an Agenda 📋
Or simply put, a skeleton to guide the conversation.
I'll show you how it's usually structured:
(6 minutes) Small Talk - What happened the previous week?
(6 minutes) How are the tasks? (one by one) 🗓️
(4 minutes) If you didn't get any of them right, why not? What did you learn from it?
(3 minutes) Collecting a reprimand or penalty. ❗
(7 minutes) Setting new tasks.
(3 minutes) Finalize tasks and prizes. 🏆
(1 minute) Wishing good luck.
With 2-3 people this can be done easily in 30 minutes.
And voila, in 4 steps you've made yourself an Accountality group that is healthy and accelerates your progress. 🤯
Outlining this doesn't seem that hard...
But be forewarned there are a lot of mistakes you can fall into.
So, I thought I'd save you these rounds and write down all the ones I've encountered so far:
1. Setting too high a target at the start 🎯
You probably won't reach it and you'll have to pay immediately.
But you don't want to pay, so you'll get out of it with some excuse to get out of it. 😏
But you're doubly hurting yourself, because the job wasn't done and you didn't keep your word.
From now on, Accountabiltiy is meaningless to you and you've blown this chance... ❌
2. You set too many goals 😵💫
And that's why you can't meet them...
The "sweet spot" - the perfect range - is at 3. 🔥
Less than 3 goals are usually too easy (although it depends on many things)
And more than 3 goals are unnecessary because it splits the focus. 🔭
So, I suggest depending on the size of your goals, but set a maximum of 3 tasks per week.
📕 Book recommendation. You can also find it on the App, just 12 minutes to listen. 🎧
3. Setting too high a price 💎
Many people get bloodshot and immediately talk about 100,000. 💸
They are right in that it really does motivate you more...
But something can always come up that makes you slip up and you have to pay...
And a lot! 💰
100.000 is a lot and that's why you try to get out of it.
And then you know what happens...
Put only 5-10-20 thousand at the beginning, it should be an amount that would hurt you enough to pay, but who knows if it would work out that way. 😮💨
4. You are too lenient with your partner 👀
Accountability is based on toughness.
No excuses, no half tasks done or not. 💁♂️
The only situation is force majeure.
For example, I had a friend who was supposed to run a marathon in 6 months but broke her leg. 🏃🏼
Well, it's a force majeure situation, she didn't want to find an excuse, she broke her leg, so no chance of running the marathon, but she still didn't lose her money.
However, we did find an equally tough challenge for him that he could still complete to claim the marathon. 💪
You have to understand, if you cut the other person slack, you're hurting them!
And if there's a force majeure situation, be understanding and work something out together. 🫂
📕 Book recommendation: "You Have No Power Over Me" by David Goggins can help you acquire this mentality. If you both listen, you will be unstoppable! It's up on the App! 🎧
5. You're too strict with your partner ⚔️
You demand punishment for things that were clearly not his fault.
You're more interested in the few thousand you've earned than the progress you two have made. 🤑
Don't get me wrong, I'm not for a moment saying you should be lenient with him, NO!
Just know when it makes sense to be tough and when it's stupid. 🤝
He's not running the marathon because he doesn't want to, he's running because his leg is broken.
You'd be stupid to assume he broke it on purpose just to get away with it...
You have to be fair, not overwhelmed! ⚖️
So, know the difference and you can avoid a lot of arguments.
6. There are too many of you 💁♂️
Groups of 3-4 people tend to work best.
It's not too big to lose the seriousness. 😉
Still wider than 2 people, so decisions are easier.
Because if one of you disagrees with the other, there is a third person to take a stand. So, it's easy to come to a joint decision.
Force majeure is also easier to negotiate with 3 people than 2. 🗣️
7. You talk too seldom 💬
Accountability is about continuous communication.
This means that you MUST talk at least once a week. 🫵
This can be Zoom, Discord or live.
Usually, the weekly tasks perform the best. ✔️
💡 Side note: It's important to have a specific time that is the same time each week (for us it was Monday at 10:00am) and get all the times on your calendar 3 months in advance. That way you won't forget!
I think if you incorporate these tips, you'll be well on your way to having a brilliant Accountability group! 🛠️
You know me well enough that I won't leave you without a specific list.
So here goes...
✅ What exactly do you do?
[ ] First, find one or more Accountability Partners for yourself. The perfect place to do this is OM's Discord server. 👀
💡 Side note: If you don't want to work in a team, you can do it alone in the accountability room. It's also much better than nothing!
[ ] Step two, choose well who your partner will be, as it's like a business relationship. 🤔
[ ] Step three, hold an introductory call and go through a list of potential mistakes so you can prepare for them in advance. 🧐
[ ] Step four, discuss the schedule you will keep. ⏰
[ ] Step five, put all the dates on your calendar 3 months in advance. 🗓️
💡 Side note: Calls can only be missed with a compelling reason. 40-degree fever, etc. Don't miss because of a cold, keep it short.
[ ] Step six, keep the first real call and set goals for this week. ☎️
[ ] Step seven, set "prizes" for each task. 💰
Side note: You don't have to throw 100,000 at them right away.
[ ] Step eight, get started! 💪🏼
Voila! Here is the system that will give you that last little push.
It helped me a lot, I hope it will help you too!
🔥 Biggest obstacle
Still to reduce churn - or cancellations. 📉
A comprehensive study recently came out that analyzed tens of thousands of apps and came up with the average numbers.
In almost all of them, we excel. 🏆
There is only one where we are at the bottom of the league...
And that's Churn. 😔
So, we're dedicating the next month specifically to it.
It's even got a super-secret CIA name...
Inside the company, we just call it:
Project Hormozi 🧔🏻♂️
💡 Side note: Because Hormozi had already brought it to our attention in the joint podcast, we just didn't think it was that important at the time. I must admit, he was right!
👷🏼♂️ Fix It Friday
Edu fixed notifications, now you get them at the time you set. 🚨
💡 Side note: I don't know if it works on Android, because there's always a problem with that. Some people can, some people can't. So, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me if it works for you. It's important to put the latest update, because it's the only one that has been fixed.
And the Streak system is also fixed. 1-2 phones for some reason didn't delete Streak, but now it's ticked! ✅
📖 What have I read now?
I finished Profit First, which helped me get the Cashflow part of the business in order. Now I know where we are spending unnecessarily and where we could be more efficient. 💰
I'm not kidding, I feel like I'm unconsciously reading the books in perfect order. Every book I'm currently reading has a reference to the previous book in it. For example, in this one you mentioned "Biznisz Matek" by title, which I read before! 📚
📕 Book recommendation: Soon "Profit First" will be added to the BookBase, I already have the written summary, just have to read it!
🎧What have I just listened to?
This isn't going to be a self-improvement thing, but I'm pretty hooked on Zach Bryan's 1-2. Somehow, he gives me exactly the vibe I'm imagining for American Countryside.
I'm flying to America soon for a cruise. I try to avoid the big cities and just be in national parks. I've already put together a playlist in my head for this.
Not all Zach Bryan, but I'll throw a few in here:
💡 Side note: I have these repeats spinning non-stop.
