Have you ever noticed yourself pushing yourself to the limit sometimes? 🧐
It may not make much sense anymore, but you do it "just because".
Well, I'm 1:1 like that, I often make rash promises to myself and once I've made them, there's no going back. 😪
Like trying to break my own spirit and see where my limits are.
But what if that kind of mentality doesn't build, but rather destroys? 🤨
What if the perpetual pressure doesn't build character in you, but simply leads to burnout?
These are the questions that came to me after the Fuller Bianka’s talk. 💭
So, I had to wrap up this thread of thought.
But before we get started, let's see... 👀
🚀 How's the challenge going?
🎨 The new Cheetah is ready
Now we just need to figure out which facial expressions to keep. The grumpy one or the friendly one? 🐆
But in colors it will look like this for sure:
I think it will be a worthy successor to the previous version.
I feel that we have taken another step up the quality ladder. 🙏🏻
🤩 Mindset Meetup was a huge success
Despite the big bus strike and sickness, 190+ people showed up, which is mind-blowing.
But, what's even more gross is that half of the attendees already bought their tickets for the next event on the spot, without even knowing the exact date and venue. 😱
Specifically, I couldn't believe it when Bogi showed me the numbers.
Thank you for this kind of trust and commitment! 🔥
To tell you the truth, I learned a lot from the presentations, I'll show you which were the biggest ones:
🤯 I learned that burnout is a scale and not a specific point
🏦 I understood the investor mentality and that it's not as bad as I thought if you choose good investors
🧪 I realized that subconsciously, but at the startup, we tested BookBase perfectly (it was the Instagram stories poll back in the day).
Get ready because it's next spring and the target is 400 people!
If you want to secure your place, in the meantime...
🔒 Here is the waitlist: https://kerdoivem.typeform.com/to/CSgHZq9v
📲 "What goes around comes around"
That's the motto for the new App, it's ok if it's not ready on time, but we'll just release it as we're all proud of it already!
Because that's how we can achieve the shock we experienced when we first saw it.🤩
Good things take time. So far, I've been the one who's always rushed updates and that's why the bugs have crept in. So now I take a bystander position and wait for the guys to "carve" out the perfect self-improvement app. 🪵
Once it's done, you'll be the first to know!
One thing's for sure, we're getting close! 😏
🎞️ Hormozi in da house
The much-anticipated Documentary arrives tomorrow! I can't believe it's finally ready. 1 must have some valuable information in it that wasn't in any of his videos.
It's no coincidence that it took me nearly 40 hours of research to ask him the best questions. ⏳
You will see it here on Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/@OnlineMarketinges/featured
Okay, let's get started... 🪓
💭 Why is it good to slow down sometimes?
At this weekend's Mindset Meetup, Bianka Fuller gave a presentation on burnout that sparked a thought in me.
"Is it okay to push myself to the limit so much?"
"Maybe it's worth it for me to slow down and de-stress a bit."
With responsibility comes stress, the more responsibility you have, the more stress you have. You just learn to manage it over time! 🥵
It's an interesting phenomenon, this constant stress, because sooner or later you get used to it and you don't even notice it, even though it's still there and it's constantly weakening you.
Like a killer in hiding! 😈
My last 2 years have been about progress, lots of work, late nights and seemingly endless content production.
If you're wondering if it was worth it?
Then my answer is definitely YES! 💪🏼
However, everything has a cost.
Since I/we worked so hard with the team, there wasn't much time to recharge. 😔
Which resulted in my creative energies starting to run low. I felt I didn't have as good ideas.
I was more tired at the beginning of the day and barely had the energy to get up. 😪
All because I like to push my limits!
I like to promise myself things I don't even think about. But since I promised, I have to do it. 🤕
In fact, a lot of times, once I've delivered, I want to deliver even more, just so I can say I can do that too.
It's a bit of a David Goggins attitude, just not as harsh as his. 💪🏼
Here's an example of this Blog: I've written during my Roadtrip, on holidays, on my vacations and wherever else that came my way. ❌
💡 Side note: It helped me a lot to organize my thoughts and I think my writing has improved a lot, but only you can really see that.
I took all this so seriously so I could say: it couldn't break me! 🙏🏻
Which is absolutely true.
😔 I just started to lose the important stuff along the way.
😔 I had less time for my loved ones because I was writing articles for 10 hours.
🔒 I had a busy week because I had to write every Wednesday.
📖 I didn't read as much as before.
🤕 I felt obliged to do what I loved before.
And when I thought about them clearly...
I felt a little sad.😪
I didn't understand why I was doing this to myself.
Why am I trying so hard to push my boundaries?
And why don't I realize that this is destroying rather than building?
So, I came to a resolution:
"This will be the last article I write this year and it's time to slow down."
Now I'm trying to practice when to say to myself:
"Okay, that's it! It's been awesome so far, but now it's time to take a break."
It's interesting to think about:
"After my travels, I always come home recharged, but what if it wasn't the travel that recharged me, it was the time off work?"
I've never thought about it like that. 🤔
And just as I was running this train of thought through my mind, I came across this letter from Pityu. She writes the "Diary of a Writer" blog. ✍🏼
In it, he wrote that he would not write any more letters this year and that he would use the time to relax.
Then was the typical movie moment when the protagonist remembers something. 🤔
"If Pityu can do it, I can do it."
💡Side note: For a long time, I didn't dare take a break because what if they unsubscribe from the newsletter, what if they don't get value from it? Then I quickly fixed that thought, because if I recharge, I'll be more creative, and if I'm more creative, I'll write better posts! So, it's a WIN-WIN, for both sides! Until then, you can read the older articles. 😉
But I'd be cheating myself if I didn't write this article as practical as the previous ones. So here comes the HOW section.
But first a little digression...
I'm not asking for anything now, I just want to thank you for being with me again this year and reading my ramblings.
True, we didn't reach the target of 100,000 subscribers, but still
it was a great experience to write to you week after week.
Thank you for reading! 🧡
🧐 How to get charged?
Let's say I am your Mental Doctor and I prescribe the things below. That way you will be "forced" to take them. 👨🏼⚕️
I'll give you a complete plan to RESET the tension and stress in your body. ♻️
💡 Side note: I will do the exact same thing.
1. relaxation - What do you like to do? ♟️
See what fills you up, what you can just do and just immerse yourself in. 🧡
And do more of that.
It could be a video game, a series, a good book, whatever. 🎮
For me, it's chess for these few weeks.
2. Social uplift - Meet your friends and loved ones! 🤝
The holidays are the perfect opportunity for you to meet people you haven't seen in a long time. After all, this is the time when everyone goes home to visit their parents.
It could be a friend who has moved away or a family member who lives abroad. ♻️
It's a chance to catch up on missed reunions. 🫂
You won't believe how recharging a deep conversation with an old friend can be.
3. Mental recharge - Read novels! 📖
It's time to read not only for growth, but also for relaxation.
It could be Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or even The Alchemist. The point is, now read for the story and not for the lessons within it. 🪄
This will help your brain to just imagine and relax in such a dream world. 🧠
💡 Side note: If you don't like to read, this could be a series for you or a movie marathon. I have more than one friend who rewatches all of Harry Potter or Star Wars at this time. The Grinch is a firm favorite for me!
📕 Book recommendation: if you're looking for a self-improvement book, I recommend a few for the holidays. "Your Next Five Moves" - Patrick Bet David, "Hyper focus" - Chris Bailey, "The Organized Mind" - Daniel J Levitin and finally "Made in America" - Sam Walton. You can find a summary of all of them in BookBase.
4. Physical recharge - Bath and sauna! 🧖🏽♂️
Now that you're socially and mentally recharged, it's time to get physically fit before the Christmas feast.
I'm all about thermal baths and saunas, but it can also be a good massage. 💆🏽♂️
Your body needs a RESET like this too, to start the next year much stronger.
The point is to reward yourself a little for having such a good year. 🎁
Finally, here's the last one...
5. Plan your next year - Golden compass 🧭
Every year I fill out 2 types of goal planners. 📝
One is the Golden Compass, which we've customized to our liking so you'll find an OM version of it. I'll link it here.
And this is a printer friendly version.
It takes about 2 hours to complete. ⏰
This will help you close out this year and start the next one renewed.
It will also help you set a goal, plan the perfect day and figure out the path to that goal.🌞
I dare say that for your next year, this 2 hour will have the biggest payoff! 🙏🏻
And the second is Josh Lynott's Thought Sheet, it's a paid one, but well worth the $10.💭
These tend to be a bit deeper questions and focus on 1-1 area of life. This way you can be more specific about your goals for the year. That's how he usually breaks it down:
Spiritual
Contacts
Travel
Mental
Physical
Business
Fun
Social
Creativity
Emotional
And Material
I fill this in specifically after the Golden Compass. That way my goals are more broken down and I can see what's really important. 📈
💡 Side note: It helps a lot if you write down your habits afterwards for these goals. So what are the habits that can get you closer to your goals. For example, if your goal is to gain weight to 82kg, then 4 workouts a week and X calories a day can be good habits.
📕 Book recommendations: "Atomic Habits" by James Clear is the most read book in the BookBase, it's aimed at exactly that, so it's worth a listen. 🎧
Many people mess up their New Year's goals by just setting them, but not thinking about how they're going to achieve them. ❌
This is where these 2 documents and the book "Atomic Habits" will help you. 🙏🏻
If that's not specific enough, let's see...
✅ What exactly do you do?
[ ] Step one, look at what fills you up and do more of it. ♟️ (relaxation)
[ ] Step two, get together with friends and loved ones during the holidays. 🤝 (social recharging)
[ ] Step three, watch a series or read a book, the key is to turn your brain off. You need to break the vicious cycle of constant brainstorming. 🎞️ (mental recharging)
[ ] Step four, go for a spa afternoon. Hot water, sauna and cold plunges work wonders.🧖🏽♂️ (physical recharging)
💡 Side note: Many people think that there's not enough money in the world to do this, but that's not true. An afternoon spa ticket can be had for 4-5 thousand forints. Believe me it's worth that much investment for your body.
[ ] Step five, fill out the Golden Compass. Take 2 hours, retire somewhere where you won't be disturbed and plan your next year. 🧭
[ ] Step six, optional, but I can only recommend it. Fill in the Though Sheet to make your goals more concrete. 💭
[ ] Step Seven, see what habits might help you achieve the goals you have now set. 🔍
[ ] Step Eight, rank these habits in order of importance and begin to incorporate them into your daily life one by one, based on the book "Atomic Habits". 📕
If you do this, I promise you will be closer to your goals than ever before! 💪🏼
🔥 Biggest obstacle
To really switch off my brain and let it recharge. 🧠
Being an entrepreneur means thinking non-stop about how to get ahead. I honestly think that's the beauty of it. It's just quite exhausting, especially mentally.
Right now, I'm "forcing" myself to relax. 😎
Because I've pre-filled my calendar with activities, so that I can't even accidentally do anything that would push me back into unstoppable brainstorming.
👷🏼♂️ Fix It Friday
There's a lot going on in the new version. Yes, I know it's still not out, but I promise it's worth the wait!
✅ Finally, we see the REAL length of the book
✅ There's a back arrow everywhere so it's easier to navigate
✅ The new Streak rewards are working
✅ We've hooked up the Community section to your profile
If this update won't increase the number of active months, I don't know what will...
📖 What have I just read?
I'm reading $100 Million Leads from Hormozi, I'm jotting down tips for my ad and trying to build a system for it. 📝
I'm also waiting for Scientific Advertising to be written out, which will be a bit longer. But looking forward to that too! 📕
🎧 What have I been listening to?
Awesomely interesting reasoning in this week's Philosophy class about what we think: "Who is God? How would we describe him?"
A much harder question than it first sounds, we thought about it for about 20 minutes and wrote down everything we thought based on what we knew so far.
This philosophy is getting more and more exciting for me!
✍🏼 Top quote
"Sometimes we have to slow down so that we can speed up later." ~ Unknown
🧪 Question of the week
Thanks for reading my thoughts again this year!
It means more than you know! 🙏🏻
Hope to see you back here again next year! 👋🏼
