What is the difference between Community and Audience? π€
What is a network of relationships?
What is the difference between a community and a community? π
These questions will be answered in this article!
But before we dive in, let's see... π
π How's the challenge?
π The numbers are going up
This proves that the new Update is good and the ads are heading in a good direction. ππ»
Honestly, I needed this little boost, plus it gave the whole team a good motivational boost. π₯
From here, our job is to stabilize the App and improve the existing features. If we can do that, this number will continue to rise! π
ποΈ The new Docu is out
We'll quickly unveil our New Year's resolutions with this video.
12 minutes that could change your whole year! π
No that's not poetic hyperbole, it's the color pure truth! β
But you'll understand in the end...
Okay, let's get started... πͺ
π Why are we building a community?
To understand it all, we need to start from the basics. π§±
But I promise it won't be long!
Let's start with what is the difference between Community and Audience? π§
True, it's only 1 letter, but that 1 letter means a lot.
I'll explain...
π₯ Audience: when one person communicates with thousands.
π€ Community: When everyone can communicate with everyone.
The simplest way I can describe it is this:
But why is it good that everyone can talk to everyone? π§
The answer is simple, because it allows anyone to make connections and increase their network of contacts. πΈοΈ
A network of contacts is a collection of people you know in person. The people you can count on, who can help you through your stumbling blocks.
I've heard a lot of successful people say that in today's world, money is no longer the only thing that gives you real security...
It's the network of relationships! π
Because if something happens to you, your close friends can help you.
π‘ Side note: My own example. If I had to quit my business because of some unforeseen event, I could go to work in about 7 places immediately. Because managers know my skills and trust me. That's real security!
You really have to think of it as a net! If you fall into it, it keeps you, the more people you know, the more secure the net, the more secure you are. πͺπΌ
Let's see what would happen in the above two cases:
In Audience, we can see that the content producer, around whom it is all built, is safe because many people are connected to it. π
So, if something happens to him, his audience can help him.
However, it is a one-way relationship, you know me, but I do NOT know you. So, if something were to happen to you, I wouldn't be able to help you, because I don't know about it. β
So, in this case only the Content Producer is safe and no one else!
Whereas with Community, everyone can connect to everyone. So, there is a two-way connection. π€
So, whoever and whatever happens to someone, the Community can help them. π
Just look at the two diagrams...
Suppose you have to jump from a 10-meter crane into a rescue net, which would you rather jump into, Left or Right?! ποΈ
Obviously, the Job, because it looks much more stable (and it is)!
In short, it's important to build a community because it gives your audience the chance to build a community for themselves. πΈοΈ
There is a saying, by the way, that has come up 1,000 times on this Blog:
"If you want to go fast, go alone,
if you want to go far, go as a team." ~ African proverb
I believe that as a community we can go much further, together! πͺπΌ
That's why we have Online Events.
That's why we have Offline networking.
That's why I'm asking for your opinions on so many topics.
We're working hard to ensure that in 10 years' time, BookBase will NOT be referred to as a Book Review App, but as a Self-Development Community. π€
π‘ Side note: Let's be honest, AI will replace many businesses in a few years, but one thing it will NEVER replace is Community. Sure, you can have an AI best friend, but humans evolutionarily want to belong somewhere and AI can't replace that one on one. That's how you can build an AI safe business that will still be stable in 10 years.
So strategically it is a good step to go in this direction. Because not only are you helping community members, you're also AI-proofing your own business. π€
But before we rush ahead. A little insight...
Did you know that: For every person you send the Blog to who subscribes you will receive gifts! And quite valuable ones at that:

Thank you! π§‘
π§ How do we want to do this?
The goal is quite ambitious:
"To create the largest self-improvement community in Hungary."
So we need to support this from 2 directions. ππ»
Online and Offline.
1. Online Community - Discord πΎ
Because we need a platform where anyone can join the conversations, regardless of location. π
This will break down physical barriers and give everyone the opportunity to build a network of contacts.
Here is the link:
Because it's 0-24, anyone can join at any time and ask for help from others. π€
π Book recommendation. It's not one of the most read books in the BookBase for nothing! 26 minutes, but it has almost everything you need to know about effective communication. π§
However, we don't stop there!
We organize Challenges where we dive deep into a topic for 1-2 months and try to gain above average knowledge. π
We invite the best speakers on the topic that we can get. That way, we can use their knowledge to really achieve some serious results. π§
Regardless of the challenges, we hold Exclusive Lectures where the OM team or OM's network of contacts share their expertise. ποΈ
There have been such performances:
π° What lies ahead for Cryptocurrencies in 2024 - by MakeItCount
π€ How to Know Yourself - by Bianka Fuller
𧑠How to choose a partner - Kinga my girlfriend
π― How to set the right goals? - Held by me
It is our unhidden goal that, as the BookBase scales, we will reinvest a portion of the income earned their back into speakers.
Ergo, we want to invite the best in the business, even from abroad, so that we can really get the knowledge that can give us an edge in the marketplace. π§
So it will be in everyone's interest to see the BookBase grow, so that everyone has access to more serious knowledge! π
π‘ Side note: Just imagine filling up a strip within an App like this and seeing how many more users you need, for a Brian Tracy, a Hormozi or an Andrew Huberman lecture. They don't even all hold consultations, but the ones that do, are close to $4,000,000/hour. However, with 3-4-5,000 users, we can pay for this investment.
Finally, Kokesz has recently introduced the Accountability section. π€
Accountability means, if you say something, you do it.
I used this back when I started my first business. π
In short, it means I set a goal for everyone and commit that if I fail, I will pay X amount or do X amount of bench-press etc. (some kind of penalty).
That way I have more pressure on myself and am much more likely to actually achieve what I want! π―
It's a really cool part on Discord and it's pretty spinning. Every day members are writing and ticking off the tasks! β
π‘ Side note: Thanks, Kokesz for creating this. I think it has added a lot to our community.
2. Offline Meetups π
These are Mindset Meetups. We've had a 100 and a 200-person event.
We organize them quarterly, the next one is in March. ποΈ
In the meantime, here's a waiting list if you're interested:
This is how they are usually built:
ποΈ A presentation on psychology, self-development or business start-up
π€ Speed dating, i.e., a 1:1 meeting with other members of the community
ποΈ One more presentation or round table discussion
This way we can share valuable information and expand our network of contacts at the same time.
By 2024, the plan is to have an event for 400 people, then 1,000. πͺπΌ
However, I am aware of the limits of my knowledge and know that I could not organize these alone. ποΈ
So, for the 1,000 people we will be looking for more serious partners with whom we can partner to take these Offline Meetings to the next level. π₯
+1 Meetups π€
We would like to start organizing these in the second half of 2024 or when there is enough demand. π
The Meetups would be different from the Offline Meetups in that they would be much smaller and would NOT only be in the cities of Budapest, but also in the counties. π€πΌ
Kind of like a regular meetup, where we get together and discuss 1-2 topics, help each other and have fun. π»
I truly believe in these micro communities because this is where really close relationships can form.
π Book recommendations: "The Friendship Formula" by Caroline Millington has a lot to say about how you can break down toxic relationships and make a really good friend for yourself. You can find it in BookBase! π§
I have no idea how we will organize these. Whether we organize it or you, the members of the Community? π€
The point is that we want to move in this direction, because then we can proudly say that we have done our best for the success of the Community! π
And finally, let's close with something a little different...
β
How can you make the most of this opportunity?
[ ] First step, join our Online Community. β¬οΈ
[ ] Step two, post a short introduction on the Introductions channel so that others can get to know you and see the common themes right away. π
[ ] Step three, participate in the online presentations and challenges. You can learn a lot of information relatively quickly. ποΈ
π Book recommendations: How to Make Friends by Dale Carnegie is a must-read on this topic. If you've read it, if you haven't, go through it 1x more, trust me he always has something new to say! You can find it in the BookBase! π§
[ ] Step four, start working towards your goal and take responsibility for your progress. The Accountability channel is the perfect place to do this. Simply type in your daily tasks and check off the ones you've accomplished in the evening. π€
[ ] Step five, come to the next Mindset Meetup in March. This way you can meet live with the young people you already know online. ποΈ
[ ] Step Six, at the Mindset Meetup you will have the opportunity to Speed Date, where you will meet 12 like-minded people in 1 hour (learning from the previous ones, it will be split into age groups) πͺπΌ
If you go through this list, I guarantee you'll have a more secure network than you have now! π
The sooner you become part of the community, the more contacts you'll make.
See you on Discord! ππΌ
π₯ Biggest obstacle
Getting the metrics hooked into the app and also the website, because right now we can't measure anything, we are literally just running the business on hunches, which is not good at all! π«€
It's quite a time-consuming process, but I don't want development to slow down either. So now we're going to ask for external help in the person of my friend Bence, who will take the burden of Analytics off our shoulders. ππ»
This will allow Edu to continue to focus on developing the App and Bence to focus on building the infrastructure. π
I can't tell you how happy I will be when our whole infrastructure will be ready and we will see all the data. βΊοΈ
π·πΌββοΈ Fix It Friday
Edu fixed the bug where if you downloaded the App but didn't register, you just quit. Then you had no chance to register from there because it would throw you to login. β
Also fixed a bug where the countdown timer on playback was counting wrong if you sped up the sound. β
π What am I reading now?
Only a few pages left of Reality Transurfing. I'm getting a better understanding of spirituality and the law of attraction. ποΈ
Thinking about something a lot is not enough in itself. You have to act on it, but if you act on it AND you think about it all the time, you will see more opportunities that can help you reach your goal. π―
You shouldn't make your goal a huge priority, because then you'll get stuck and you won't be able to do well. You need a strong confidence but a chill mentality to go with it. Combined with enough perseverance, you can achieve anything. π
Sounds not so woo-woo already. Vadim Zeland was the first person who could explain this to me in a clear way.
π§ What have I just listened to?
This week was all about reading and listening to music. So, I don't have any good podcasts to share, but I did add a few new songs to my playlist. β¬οΈ
You can check them out here:
π‘ Side note: Worth listening from 87 onwards, those are the new compositions!
βπΌ Top quote
"Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much."
~ Helen Keller
π§ͺ Question of the week
You may have noticed that this was a completely different topic. Here, we were talking specifically about our own business and I've been running down a train of thought that's been drilling into my brain for weeks. π§
I felt a little bit like you were sitting across the table from me explaining it to you. π£οΈ
I honestly felt more liberated while writing this post. πͺπΌ
But, as always, I'm curious to hear what you think! β¬οΈ
