📝 New Developments: Magic Link 🔮
⏰ Time it took to write: 5 hours 37 minutes
I've slightly reformed the structure of the Newsletter because a few people said there was only a little mention of the progress of the App. So, I've dedicated the first section to that, a bit more, and then I'll follow it up with - what has become our trademark - valuable knowledge! 😉
🚀 How's the challenge going?
🧠 Deep Dive category
A quick update came this week, where we've made a separate category for Deep Dive books so you can easily reach them. There are about 3-4 books done, but the guys are working on it all the time.
🎧 Deep Dive listening
So far, - I was like -, let's not read these up, as I'm not even sure if people will like this feature yet and I wanted to test it in MVP (Minimum Viable Product). However, one of the AI reading software had a good deal and we bought 6,000,000 words of read aloud for the year, so these will be read slowly. Not in a Göblyös Pityu voice, but they'll be good for the time being!
🔮 Magic Link
If everything goes well, we will get rid of ALL passwords in 1-1.5 weeks. 0 passwords, zero, nothing...
Because there were so many problems with them, we decided to switch to the already tried and tested, sufficiently innovative...
Magic Link.Basically, all you have to do is enter your email and you get a code/link via email, which when entered, the App logs you in.
🤫 Psst... relax the autologin will of course stays!
🎞 Media server
Also, we will be replacing the media server for a more professional one, which will be easier to scale and allow for like a Netflix convenience. So, if you open it on your computer and start listening but you need to go, you'll be able to resume from the same place on your phone.
Which will be pretty cool! 😎
🤣 Meme contest
Kokesz thought we should have a Meme competition and the best ones would always get in the next Weekly Newsletter, so I'm opening this one up!
Send your memes to me in reply emails so they are all in one place! 🙏🏻
🪓 Let's get started
I spent the last week in Nice with Kinga. Typical rest + recharge, but neither of us could take this big "rest" for very long. Kinga was working with her clients occasionally and I was trying to spend the time in a useful way. 👩🏽💻👨🏽💻
I have decided to read the book about Naval Ravikant during the week, we need to spend so much time on the bus, tram, airport anyway… why not spend it in a useful way. 📖
The book has taught me a lot, one of them, I have already explained it in my previous letter, and the other one is just in time.😉
Have you ever been promised something by someone you really trusted, and then suddenly you were very disappointed because they didn't keep their promise? We've all been there. 😒
It's a bad feeling, I won't sugarcoat it...
But what if I told you that there is a solution.
There is a way to make things right.
And that is...
Taking responsibility!🔥
Also known as Accountability.🇬🇧
📕 Book recommendation: The book Skin in the Game by Nassim Nicholas Taleb is a great read on this subject. The main point is that people who don't just preach, but experience their teachings first hand, are more credible. "Don't tell me what to invest in, tell me where your money is." Because, you will be authentic in the eyes of others.
But before we get started, let's see...
🤨 Why is taking responsibility important?
I will explain it to you very simply. It's called the "If this, then that" technique.😲
If we take responsibility for our actions, we won't pass the blame to others.
If we don't the blame on others, we will build respect and trust in our relationships.
If we build respect and trust in our relationships, we will have more positive and effective interactions.
If we have more positive interactions, we will be more successful in our personal and business lives.
If we are more successful, we will have more self-confidence.
If we have more confidence, we can set and achieve bigger goals.
When we achieve those goals, we become more successful....
And so on and so on!
💡Side note: Here, success means whatever you want it to mean, success doesn't necessarily mean making $1,000,000 or driving a Ferrari. In fact, I hope that's not all it means for you, because then you're chasing vain dreams.
"Life rewards those who take responsibility for their actions." ~ Naval Ravikant
The more responsibility you take, life will reward you the most. Just think of the people who manage Billions. Or even us, right now we are responsible for "only" 1,500 people. But if there were 10,000 of users on BookBase, the responsibility would increase considerably. Yes, but the revenue is also nearly 7x. 😏
When you take responsibility people start to trust you and because they do, they dare to trust on my word more. Which can lead to much greater success in the long run. 📈
Here's a very good video where Ben Shapiro explains why the workers earn less than the owner, using a factory example. 💰
"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and only 5 minutes to destroy it. Once you understand that, you'll do things differently." ~ Warren Buffett
As for taking responsibility, Startups have not been very good for it. After all, a lot of young "entrepreneurs" (or wanting to be entrepreneurs) get the money from old investors and start throwing it around with 2 hands, and then after they bankrupt the company... 🤡
They will then wait with open arms to see that it wasn't their fault! 👎🏼
(Respect to the exception, because there are exceptions, just a few)
But let's also look at the opposite, because that’s how the picture is complete. 👀
When we do NOT take responsibility for our actions, we put the blame on others.
If we blame others, they will not trust us and take us seriously.
If they don't trust us, we have to do everything ourselves.
If we do it alone, we have no one to blame.
If we don't know who to blame (and we don't come to our senses), we get into a mental trap, which can easily lead to depression.
That's why taking responsibility is so important and why for a long time I couldn't understand why people didn't do it. Now that I've gotten older and more mature (a little). The answer has become very simple: because it is DIFFICULT! 😪
It's hard to say:
I messed up,
it's my fault
that I'll fix it
It's not for nothing that all the big Gurus talk so much about taking responsibility, there's Gary Vee, Alex Hormozi, Naval Ravikant and I could go on. They all say that you have to master it first. 🏆
Because you can only make a difference when you finally admit to yourself that where you are in life is largely the sum of your choices.
💡 Side notes 2: Yes, there are people with very difficult fate, but I believe you can always find that one small action that can move you forward in life.
📕 Book Recommendation: 'The Obstacle is the Way' by Ryan Holiday (my favorite author), is about how you face many difficulties in your life, but if you don't run away from them but solve them, you can grow much faster. 25 minutes at BookBase! 🎧
If you like to waste long hours of your life, now is NOT the time to listen...
Because, if the above statement is true about you, BookBase would be a terrible choice for you, because:
✅ There is no unnecessary talk here
✅ No dry descriptions
✅ And no obsolete, inextricable knowledgeHowever, ...
If you want to accelerate your progress 7x:

Now I think you understand why it's so important, it's time to take a look...
🥸 How can you take responsibility?
The problem is that it sounds a lot simpler than it is. It might be enough for someone to write "Hey take responsibility!", but for most people it's hard to own up to their mistakes. ☝🏼
Why?
Because they are afraid it will make them look bad and they will fall down the Social Hierarchy. 👇🏼
💡 Side notes 3: It's evolutionary psychology: men are all fighting to be higher up the hierarchy because it increases their chances of finding a woman and making family, which has been everyone's end goal for thousands of years.
However, I must disappoint you that in most cases it is a paradox. 🪬
👨🏽🏫 Meaning of Paradox: A paradox is a statement or situation involving two seemingly contradictory facts or characteristics. It seems impossible, but it may actually express a possible truth.
For people who admit their mistakes appear more credible and are trusted more by others. 😧
Which leads to them being able to build better relationships and rise higher in the Social Hierarchy because of their relationships.
So, by owning up to your mistakes, you can put yourself in a better position, not worse!
Here's an example:
One time the guys and I released a new update to BookBase, which resulted in no one being able to log in (yes... even those who were subscribers). A lot of people were outraged (quite rightly). 🤯
I had two options:
A) Blame the team for the whole thing, which would obviously does not solve the problem. But it probably would have been very bad for them and they might have left me and OM. 🥵
B) I take responsibility. Because indirectly, but it was my fault. I should have checked 3x, which I didn't do and the update been released with bugs in it. 🥶
It doesn't take much thought to tell which one I did (B), however, what's exciting is what happened next! 🤔
📕 Book recommendation: "Extreme Ownership" by Jocko Willink is a perfect choice here. The gist is that if you lead a team, anything that goes wrong is your fault. Because you are the leader, everything can be traced back to you, directly or indirectly! This book has given me a lot in my time.
As I took my mistakes and wrote them down to people one by one and apologized to them. Instead of copping my head off, they tried to help me. They were completely understanding and NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE, asked for the money back when they could have. 🥳
Since then, I have become crystal clear why taking responsibility is worth it!
The problem is, until you own up to your mistakes, you're fooling yourself all the time, and you'll only realize this when you finally have the courage to take responsibility for your own actions. 🧐
One of my favorite stories is "The Man in the Arena", Theodore Roosevelt's speech. I'll link it for you here. ⚔️
It's all about how people criticize everyone, but few people actually fight in the Arena. The rest are just watching from above and shouting in, which doesn't mean a damn thing in the world.
We, who get up every day and fight for our goals are in the Arena! While the people who swipe TikTok but do nothing for their future...
They just watch us from the stands. That's why it's posted in my Instagram bios. 🤌🏼
It's time to turn to the nitty gritty, here's the usual checklist! ✅
😉 What exactly do you need to do?
First, let's look at how you can take responsibility for past failures, then we'll look at how you can capitalize on this in the future! 🤓
Hold on tight, because we'll run through the list quickly:
Look back at the past and write down on a sheet of paper the failures where you didn't take responsibility.
Next to each one, write "Why" you didn't take responsibility.
Then write down "How" you could take responsibility now in hindsight.
Then write down "Who" you should apologize to who you blamed instead of yourself.
Then slowly, one by one, start to take responsibility and try to correct your mistakes.
I promise you; people won't even recognize you and if you do it honestly, a lot of people will be disappointed in you POSITIVELY. Which just means that on the list I mentioned at the beginning of this post, you suddenly jump to #3 level "build respect and trust with others". 🚀
🔮And last but not least, let's see how you can put this to good use in the Future:
Whatever project you start, take responsibility for it from the very beginning.
Promise yourself that you will stand by it and work hard for it.
Tell your best friends and close acquaintances so that they know that you are now committed.
Follow through and tell them you've done it!
💡 Side notes 4: Since others will know about it, you're much more likely to do it because you don't want to embarrass yourself in front of them. The more people you tell, the more responsibility you've taken on.
🔥 Challenge
The biggest challenge for us now is how to do the opening abroad. Because our 2 competitive advantages at home were that, first we were known by many people for our content, which is free advertising. Second, we made the app in Hungarian, which differentiated us from the others. But abroad…none of them. ❌
So...
We figured out that since the newsletter is so popular with the audience here at home – for YOU! 🌍
We are trying to translate it and target the foreign audience with it.
We won't get subscribers because we don't have the App in English yet, but we will build a "Waitlist" so that by the time we launch the App abroad, we have a solid base! 📝
Kokesz hasn't spent a minute, the V1 Design of the Waitlist is ready, don't look at the text yet. And Dani is busy translating the newsletters (thanks Dani, thanks Kokesz) 🙏🏻
📖 What have I just read?
I have just read a summary of Skin in The Game by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. I found this as a recommendation in Naval Ravikant's book and liked it. The book actually sums up exactly what I have in this Post. ✏️
The gist is that people and companies who can excel in the long run are those who take responsibility for everything they do. There can be failures, because after 1 - 2 failures people will trust you even more. 🔒
Plus Taking Responsibility is cool! For example, there's Thomas Shelby or Harvey Specter (Suits on Netflix), both are true Sigma's and both take responsibility for their actions and try to fix it when they've done something wrong. 🦁
🎧 What have I just listened to?
I finished Naval Ravikant's book, which I read and listened to at the same time. It gave me the idea that it was just time to write a bit about this topic.📖
Also, there is another interesting thing, just listen...
When Kinga and I were out in Nice in the evenings Netflix was on. sshe is now watching an interesting series, which of course I scolded her from the very beginning (typical move) how can you watch such meaningless nonsense series. 😩
Cut, to 10 minutes later I couldn't take my eyes off it and we watched 3 episodes in a row. 😅
And I have to say I was wrong, it's a very useful series, a bit like Billions but much more strategic. It's called Suits and it's about a law firm and different lawsuits. I'm not kidding, I've learned a brutal lot from it already and I have to tell you, it wasn't hard to catch up at the end of season 5...🫢(I was wondering what was going on for 5 seasons if I understood the threads right away, but anyway, the point is that it's worth watching)
